Flynn Design's insight:

Beth Norcross's gift is "Connecting People of Faith with the Earth". As adjunct faculty in eco-theology and eco-spirituality at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., she has embraced her latest calling as founding director of the Center for Spirituality in Nature, where leaders can retreat and recharge by "paying attention to our neighbors, human and non-human, and deepen their spirituality through direct experience with the natural world."

   When Beth came to me (via an introduction by a mutual friend, Karole Sessums, who is developing her website,--thank you!) needing a logo, the direction was to visually communicate man in and connected with nature. And, she really wanted a tree in there somewhere. I love trees!

    It was a pleasure and a rewarding experience working with Beth and I cannot wait to retreat for a weekend at the Center when it opens!

The Content: 52 pages of Word content. 8 charts & graphics. Pages and pages of information tables. Photos and Footnotes.
Summary: We did it! “Can do” attitudes. Responsive teams. Beautifully designed end result. Client happy. Designer happy.

Branding the Chef Steve Show has been so much fun. How could it not be? The Unified Brands team is strong & focused and has been launching these videos to promote the advantages of each line of products. I like the thermal visual example in this one that shows how the cold air stays in their units even when the drawers are opened to keep food safe and at the right temperature.

It’s not unusual for Arden to bring an act to Jackson that no one has heard of. Yet, many of those acts return again and again as they build a following here. He is also comfortable bringing in events with legends and superstars.


In 2012, Arden ended up presenting 160 different acts in about 40 shows, including acts like Kevin Costner and Modern West, Soul Asylum, Jackson Browne, Spyro Gyra, and Janice Ian. “The monumental event of the year was the Flaming Lips concerts and Wilco. It was an honor for us to do those dates.” It appears 2013 will be another great year as well.


At the beginning of the year, Arden had tickets on sale for about 13 shows and 20 more shows on the books.

As one of the major sponsors for MAMA, Johnson & Johnson's Alice Lin Fabiano played the vital role of selecting the design studio for the One Year Report. We were so happy to have been chosen. The websites that we design and build are about customization for our client’s end needs. For architect Bill Powell, this meant showcasing his newest masterpiece, while making it clear that he has designed other homes and remodels and additions. This is where collaboration with my most awesome programmer extraordinaire, Denny Burkes of Jive Samba comes in. He selects the site structure that will be the most seamless to showcase the product and builds in the easiest back end content management tools for our client. In the end, a happy client with new visitors to his site.

Save the date! The BankPlus International Gumbo Festival. Saturday, September 28th. Smith Park. Thank you BankPlus & ardenland for all you do!

Flynn Design's insight:

How to communicate 'gumbo festival' without showing the obvious seafood & okra. That's what was on the table here. And we wanted to incorporate the BankPlus logo as part of the lockup for their generous support. Hot, steaming, bubbling symbolism, fun fonts, gumbo colors & texture did the trick for the first part...then Arden's magic words after a bit of under the gun deadline stress (and expressionless stares from the first 2 attempts--those are the worst!-that's when you know you've missed the mark) : "try to build it 'around' the BankPlus logo'".... voila! magic. happiness. smiles all around. The BankPlus International Gumbo Festival branding is born.
