Flynn Design is having fun designing for The Chef Steve Show and watching Chef Steve D'Angelo continue to perfect the art of cooking with Unified Brands equipment, right here from their test kitchen in Byram, Mississippi :)
Save the date! The BankPlus International Gumbo Festival. Saturday, September 28th. Smith Park. Thank you BankPlus & ardenland for all you do!
Flynn Design's insight:
How to communicate 'gumbo festival' without showing the obvious seafood & okra. That's what was on the table here. And we wanted to incorporate the BankPlus logo as part of the lockup for their generous support. Hot, steaming, bubbling symbolism, fun fonts, gumbo colors & texture did the trick for the first part...then Arden's magic words after a bit of under the gun deadline stress (and expressionless stares from the first 2 attempts--those are the worst!-that's when you know you've missed the mark) : "try to build it 'around' the BankPlus logo'".... voila! magic. happiness. smiles all around. The BankPlus International Gumbo Festival branding is born.
EastGroup Properties has invited us to design their annual report every year since 1994 :)) We work as a team with the Ramey Agency. Love the teamwork with Jim Garrison at Ramey. And EastGroup is a beautiful example of a company with strong, clear strategic leadership, headed by CEO, President and Director, David H. Hoster, II.
"Flynn Design transforms my simple ideas into stunning, award-winning projects. Working with them is such an exciting, collaborative effort I eagerly await the next opportunity to work with them again.”- Elli Morris, Photographer, Wackophoto
Flynn Design's insight:
Elli is....Elli! Fun, a free-spirit, creative and light-hearted. And! A great photographer. She wanted circles, which, at the time we built this site, were not out there much at all. So, we did circles :)) Elli completely updates the content herself. We recently developed another site for her less-wacky, more corporate portfolios.
Thanks to Stan Little and Keith Sisson, flying to the beach has just taken on a whole new meaning. They literally rolled out a red carpet for passengers on the inaugural flight. They brought me in to develop the corporate identity and their input was invaluable about what they wanted the airline to be. More to come...
Brandi Granderson decided she wanted to start her own Fashion line, so she did...and she did it right! She met with me to get a plan to develop the brand identity & website and immediately traveled to China to find the right manufacturer for her products. Her nights were my days and my days her nights. We Skyped at odd hours to get some face time and completed our mission. She launched earlier in 2013 and has continued to grow her business and expand her line. Check out GrafittGlamRevolution.com & join the revolution!
Logo Design is my favorite thing to do. When I am happiest (well...there are other times, too). Here's the process: #1 Ask LOTS of questions. #2 Research the market to make sure you know what the competition and history of the product/service is. #3 Find a quiet space with my sketchpad away from the computer and something to chew on (ideas always flow better when my mouth is occupied :)...I prefer Twizzlers or gummy bears. #4 Stare at a blank page. I actually do stare at a blank page. I like it :) and as the visions come to life in my head, my brain tells my hands what to do. Sometimes I send teasers to my client before they see the first presentation...I did in this case
Mississippi Center for Justice's Make Lending Work for You program provides resources for responsible, affordable loans as an alternative to the quick popup payday loan shops that prey on those who need cash quickly. Just one of many initiatives Mississippi Center for Justice has launched to help our community.
Flynn Design's insight:
With Flynn Design's visual branding, the different marketing components will be easily recognizable as part of this Program..
Carol wanted an original website that would showcase her work. So, we presented concepts, designed and built a site that we can easily update for her as her paintings sell...and, she certainly is selling some paintings!
Arden is doing what he loves most in life...promoting music and surrounded by people. Being his wife, who just happens to be a designer, I've also been having fun with some of his visual materials. This was a poster/ad/calendar newspaper insert to provide an at-a-glance of upcoming shows.
